Improving Athletic Performance

When you participate in a sport you may work very hard at training your body, you work for hours, you practice and push yourself.  However all this hard work and you may not be training your mind to be athletic. Performance Enhancement so you can Play your best. Improve your sports anxiety, agility, strength, winning attitude.

Your fears and the stress you put on yourself provides the greatest drawbacks to a good performance.

Obstacles to Reaching your goal

Road blocks that make it more difficult or impossible to reach your goal.  Almost always, the obstacles are conditions that cause anxiety.

Fear of Failing

Fear of being humiliated

Fear of competition

Feeling of intimidation

Eliminate the Obstacle

Your super performance starts (and continues and ends in your head). If you think or say to yourself you can’t run the fastest race, hit the ball hard enough or jog a mile,” then you won’t. Negative thoughts produce poorly executed moves, unrefined skills, and unfocused efforts. Begin by changing the negative picture in your mind to a positive one.

Work on your attitude:

Inappropriate aggression

Lack of confidence

Lack of concentration

Lack of assertiveness

Rid yourself of physical symptoms:

Shortness of breath

Blurred vision

Butterflies

Muscle fatigue

Tension

You can:

Improve your confidence

Increase your agility

Improve your coordination

Improve your concentration

Heighten your awareness of body position

Eliminate inhibiting thoughts in regards to your performance

Increase your capacity to enjoy your sport

Overcome fears and pressures.  Program yourself to have a winning attitude and play a perfect game, run the fastest race, score the most points.  Accomplish a specific goal for personal achievement!

Visualization  or mental rehearsal, is effective  because of the fact that as you imagine an activity your neurons fire in exactly the same patterns they would if you were actually performing the activity.  As you see the picture in your mind, your subconscious is convinced that the desired feat is possible.
